Uljin-gun to Demolish Jukbyeon-myeon Library and Build a New Complex Cultural Library
Completion of 'Bukuljin Library' Scheduled for End of Next Year with Total Project Cost of 5.9 Billion KRW
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Uljin-gun, Gyeongbuk announced on the 16th that it will build a new 'Buk-Uljin Library' (tentative name) on the site of the existing Jukbyeon-myeon Library, aiming for completion by the end of next year.
This project was selected as a final winner in the Living SOC Complex Project competition conducted by the National Balanced Development Committee. With a total investment of 5.9 billion KRW, including 2.9 billion KRW in national funds and 800 million KRW in provincial funds, the current Jukbyeon-myeon Library will be demolished and expanded to a total floor area of approximately 1,925㎡ (1 basement floor and 3 above-ground floors).
The new library will be designed as a multifunctional space combining reading, culture, arts, and childcare, including a materials room, toy room, lecture room, audiovisual room, book cafe, and a shared childcare space. After opening, it will provide various reading and cultural services to residents in the northern region.
The Jukbyeon-myeon Library will be temporarily relocated to one building and five containers on the site of the Bongpyeong Silla Vision Exhibition Hall and will operate temporarily for two years starting from mid-December.

County Governor Jeon Chan-geol stated, "Until now, the Jukbyeon-myeon Library has faced difficulties meeting users' needs due to a lack of cultural space, reading materials, and cutting-edge equipment," adding, "The new library will serve as a lifelong learning center for local youth and residents and will establish specialized reading services tailored to the characteristics of the northern region."
