Men's College Division First President's Cup Tournament 3 Consecutive Championships
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Dong-Eui University (President Han Su-hwan) badminton team (coach Lee Sang-bok) achieved the remarkable feat of winning the ‘Chairman’s Cup National University Badminton Federation Tournament’ for the third consecutive time.
This is the first time the men’s university division has won the Chairman’s Cup tournament three times in a row.
On November 13, Dong-Eui University’s badminton team won the men’s university team event at the ‘2020 Chairman’s Cup National University & Corporate Badminton Federation Tournament’ held at Jecheon Indoor Gymnasium in Jecheon City, Chungbuk, defeating Baekseok University 3-1 to claim the championship.
In the final, Dong-Eui University took the lead as the first singles player, Kang Kyung-moon (Physical Education, Year 2), defeated Baekseok University’s Byeon Jeong-su with a set score of 2-0 (21-18, 21-13).
The second singles player, Lee Min-seop (Leisure Sports, Year 1), unfortunately lost to Baekseok University’s Park Jun-hyuk.
In the third match, the doubles team of Lee Sang-min (Physical Education, Year 3) and Jeon Sang-pil (Leisure Sports, Year 3) defeated Baekseok University’s Park Seol-hyun and Yuk Sung-chan pair with a set score of 2-1 (21-17, 17-21, 21-17).
Following that, in the fourth match doubles, Park Kyung-bin (Leisure Sports, Year 2) and Seok Cho-hyun (Physical Education, Year 2) achieved a decisive victory over Baekseok University’s Lee In-gyu and Park Kyung-min pair with a set score of 2-0 (21-12, 21-10), securing the championship trophy.
A total of 15 teams participated in the men’s university division of this tournament. Dong-Eui University consecutively defeated Dongyang University B and Korea National Sport University B by 3-0, then advanced to the finals by beating Kyung Hee University A 3-1 in the semifinals.
Lee Sang-bok, coach of Dong-Eui University’s badminton team, said, “Despite many difficulties in training this year due to COVID-19, thanks to the players who silently persevered and worked hard, and the efforts of coach Kim Dong-heon who joined this year, we achieved the historic feat of winning the men’s university division three consecutive times for the first time.”
