Explaining the Complex 'Zero Energy Building' All at Once
[Asia Economy Reporter Chunhee Lee] A forum explaining the 'Zero Energy Building,' which will be gradually mandated starting this year, will be held.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) announced on the 15th that the 'Zero Energy Building Online Briefing Session,' hosted by MOLIT and organized by the Korea Energy Agency, will take place at 2 p.m. on the 17th.
This event will be conducted in a format where a pre-recorded video will be broadcast live through the Korea Energy Agency's YouTube channel to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
In preparation for the roadmap mandating zero energy buildings starting this year, MOLIT and the Energy Agency have been holding policy briefings since last year to explain and share policies and systems related to zero energy buildings with stakeholders such as building permit authorities, design and construction companies.
The zero energy building mandate roadmap gradually expands the scope as follows: from this year, zero energy building is mandatory for public buildings over 1000㎡; in 2023, for public buildings over 500㎡; in 2025, for private buildings over 1,000㎡ and apartment complexes with 30 or more households; and by 2030, for private buildings over 500㎡.
Accordingly, this year, briefing sessions will be held for building permit authorities, public institution clients, design, construction, and consulting firms, the Zero Energy Building Association, and research institute staff to explain the certification system overview and details.
Experts from related organizations such as the Korea Energy Agency and the Korea Appraisal Board will introduce the certification system overview, current certification status and evaluation methods, technical consultations, and best practices during the briefing session.
Those wishing to participate can pre-register on the Zero Energy Building website by the 16th to receive the broadcast link via e-mail on the day of the event. Participation is also possible on the day through the Korea Energy Agency channel or by searching related keywords (such as Zero Energy Building).
After the briefing session, frequently asked questions will be collected, organized, and posted on the website. Additionally, a satisfaction survey will be conducted via e-mail for pre-registrants, and 20 participants will be selected by lottery to receive gift coupons.

Since this is an online briefing session without restrictions on time, place, or number of participants, we hope many people, including practitioners related to zero energy building certification and interested citizens, will participate."
