Yoon Hee-sook: "I Am the One Who Laughs at the Ruling Party's Commentary... Is Taking Jobs Away the Spirit of Jeon Tae-il?"
"If It Wants to Become a Major Ruling Party, Not Just a Student Activist Circle, It Must Abandon Dogma and Pretentiousness"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Yoon Hee-sook, a member of the People Power Party, responded to the ruling party's comment that she "insulted the spirit of Jeon Tae-il and it was impossible not to laugh" by saying, "I was the one who could not help but laugh."
On the 14th, Yoon said on Facebook, "I welcome all opinions on my posting, but when I saw an article reporting that the ruling party spokesperson commented that I insulted the spirit of Jeon Tae-il and 'could not help but laugh,' I was the one who could not help but laugh," she said.
On the 13th, Yoon was criticized by the ruling party after claiming on Facebook that suspending the 52-hour workweek system for small and medium-sized enterprises after recovering from the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) aligns with the spirit of Jeon Tae-il.
She said, "The spirit of Jeon Tae-il is to guarantee a humane life for workers, but is it the spirit of Jeon Tae-il to strictly enforce the 52-hour workweek system on small and medium-sized enterprises pushed to the brink by COVID-19, taking away workers' jobs and forcing them onto the streets?" She questioned, "What kind of ideological posturing is this?"
Yoon pointed out, "I hope the ruling party, which shares the responsibility of running the country rather than being a student activist circle, will finally abandon dogma and posturing. After raising the minimum wage by 29% in two years, taking away jobs from young part-time workers and only enriching manufacturers of ordering machines, isn't it time to come to your senses?"
She continued, "In 1998, the annual working hours in our country reached 2,880 hours. If a realistic Labor Standards Act had been created and complied with from the beginning and the law had been revised according to economic development, the stigma of being a long working hours country would not have existed. Back then, our predecessors had the excuse that the country was poor and intellectual infrastructure was poor, but what excuse does the current ruling party have for stubbornly adhering to policies that ignore reality?" she criticized.

Yoon said, "If you do not want to completely burn up our economy, which has been shattered by the Moon Jae-in administration's drastic minimum wage increase and the three lease laws, do not disguise job cuts as the spirit of Jeon Tae-il, side only with militant labor unions, and insult Jeon Tae-il. Please work for the people who need even small jobs in the COVID-19 era," she urged.
