Seoul Daily Confirmed Cases Highest in Two and a Half Months ... 74 New Cases Added Yesterday
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] As additional confirmed cases emerged mainly in elderly care facilities where group infections occurred, the number of new COVID-19 cases in Seoul yesterday reached the highest level in over two months and a half.
Seoul City announced on the 13th at midnight that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Seoul increased by 74, bringing the total cumulative confirmed cases to 6,579. This is the first time since September 1, when 101 cases were recorded, that the daily number of confirmed cases has exceeded 70.
Among the new confirmed cases that day, 36 were related to group infections, 16 had contact with confirmed patients, and 22 cases are under investigation for their infection routes.
Regarding major group infections, 12 new cases (total 51) were linked to Ace Hope Care Center in Dongdaemun-gu, followed by 6 new cases (total 30) related to Geumho Elderly Care Home in Seongdong-gu, 5 new cases (total 9) related to home care services in Nowon-gu, 3 new cases (total 53) linked to a gym in Gangnam-gu, 3 new cases (total 31) related to Jameon Medical Devices (CJ Telenix in Gangnam-gu), 2 new cases (total 19) related to the Seongdong-gu market (Yeoksam Station in Gangnam-gu), and 2 new cases (total 5) linked to a sauna in Gangseo-gu.
Additionally, one new confirmed case each was added related to the Yongsan-gu Military Welfare Group (total 11), Seoul music lessons (total 24), and a family cluster in Gangseo-gu (total 11).
In the case of Ace Hope Care Center in Dongdaemun-gu, after 8 facility users were initially confirmed positive on October 30 through proactive testing conducted by Seoul City, 33 more cases were confirmed by November 11, and 12 additional cases on the 12th, bringing the total related confirmed cases to 53. Among these, 51 cases were confirmed by Seoul City.
Similarly, at Geumho Elderly Care Home in Seongdong-gu, after 2 facility staff and 2 residents were initially confirmed positive on November 7, 20 more cases were confirmed by the 11th, and 6 additional cases on the 12th, totaling 30 related confirmed cases.
So far, 5,826 people in Seoul have been declared recovered and discharged, while 674 remain in isolation.
