Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority Receives Presidential Citation for Excellence in Public Procurement
On the 12th, at the 'Public Procurement Promotion Conference' held this year at COEX in Seoul, Cha Min-sik, president of the corporation (second from the right), received the Presidential Citation for Excellence in Public Procurement.
View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (President Cha Min-sik, hereinafter referred to as the Authority) announced on the 12th that it received the Presidential Citation for Excellence in Public Procurement at this year’s ‘Public Procurement Promotion Conference’ held at COEX in Seoul.
The Authority was honored with the Presidential Citation in recognition of its contributions to coexistence and cooperation with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through active efforts to promote the purchase of SME products, support market expansion, and revitalize the purchase of technology-developed products.
Having received the Minister of Health and Welfare Citation last year for promoting the priority purchase of products produced by persons with severe disabilities, the Authority achieved the distinction of being an excellent public procurement institution for two consecutive years by receiving the Presidential Citation for Public Procurement Merit this time.
Additionally, Su-eun Lee, a staff member of the Finance and Accounting Department who contributed to promoting public procurement such as purchasing technology-developed products, was awarded the Minister of SMEs and Startups Citation.
At the awards ceremony, the Authority also shared its accumulated efforts and achievements in public procurement innovation, as well as know-how on supporting market expansion for social economy enterprises, presenting these as exemplary cases of excellent public procurement to the attendees.
President Cha Min-sik stated, “We will not be complacent with our achievements so far but will set more challenging goals and implement various support projects to strengthen the self-sustainability of SMEs. In line with government innovation, we will actively support the market entry of innovative technologies and products and take the lead as a frontrunner in public procurement.”

Meanwhile, the ‘Public Procurement Promotion Conference,’ hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and organized by the Small and Medium Business Distribution Center, is an annual event that rewards and encourages public institutions and procurement officers who have contributed to public procurement of SME products, as well as exemplary SMEs who have worked to improve the quality of procured products, aiming to share the necessity of public procurement and promote its activation.
