Ahn Cheol-soo: "Even if they try to raise Jeonse prices on purpose... they probably won't rise as much as now"
Lecture at Bukak Politics Forum, Graduate School of Political Science, Kookmin University on the 10th
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Ahn Cheol-soo, leader of the People’s Party, criticized the Moon Jae-in administration’s real estate policy on the 10th, saying, "Even if policies were developed with the intention of deliberately raising jeonse prices, they probably wouldn’t rise as much as they have now."
At a lecture at the Bukak Political Forum of Kookmin University’s Graduate School of Political Science on the same day, Ahn said, "The fact that we are about to announce the 24th real estate policy itself proves the failure of the policy."
Ahn pointed out, "Of last year’s 2% economic growth rate, about 1.5% was due to fiscal spending," adding, "Many experts say that without fiscal spending, growth would have been only about 0.5%."
Ahn stated, "Even before the impact of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) last year, our economy was suffering from serious underlying conditions," and added, "Now COVID-19 has overshadowed it, but we cannot just leave it as is. We need to fix it now."

Ahn said, "I believe both income-led growth and real estate policies were made with good intentions," but added, "Despite good intentions, if the effects do not appear or appear in the opposite way, the policies must be changed. If not changed, it will hold us back in the post-COVID era."
