Rumors of Trump Running Again, Already Seeking Funding Sources?
NYT "Leadership Pack Composition Plan"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] Donald Trump, the U.S. President who is rumored to run again in the 2024 presidential election, is reportedly planning to form a PAC (Political Action Committee) to maintain his influence over the Republican Party.
On the 9th (local time), The New York Times (NYT), citing a source familiar with the matter, reported that President Trump plans to establish a nationwide fundraising organization called the "Leadership PAC," which is expected to be announced this week.
A PAC is an organization that raises and supports election funds for endorsed candidates.
While a typical PAC has an annual donation limit of $5,000 (approximately 5.57 million KRW) per individual, the Leadership PAC that President Trump is planning is said to be able to receive unlimited donations and can also receive contributions from other PACs.
Tim Murtaugh, who served as a spokesperson for Trump's presidential campaign, said, "We have been discussing forming a PAC for some time," adding, "The President planned to form a PAC regardless of winning or losing."
There are also claims that once the Republican primary for the next presidential candidate begins, the PAC will help keep President Trump as a leading figure.
