Opening Ceremony of Pohang Earthquake Damage Investigation Office ... Mayor Lee Kang-deok Emphasizes "Practical Damage Relief"
Up to 100 Claims Adjusters On-site
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-ho] On the 9th, Lee Gang-deok, mayor of Pohang, attended the opening ceremony of the Pohang Earthquake Damage Investigation Field Office and expressed his welcome for the official start of the damage investigation along with a message of encouragement.
The field office, established in Pohang to facilitate smooth investigation and damage assessment of the Pohang earthquake, is located on the 3rd and 4th floors of the Pohang Building on Jungheung-ro, Nam-gu. At least 30 and up to 100 damage assessors will be stationed there.
About 40 people attended the opening ceremony, including Mayor Lee, Kwon Yong-sik, head of the Pohang Earthquake Truth Investigation and Damage Relief Support Team at the Office for Government Policy Coordination, the president of the Korea Damage Assessment Corporation Association, representatives and employees of damage assessment companies.
In his welcoming remarks, Mayor Lee emphasized, "The opening of this field office is very meaningful because damage assessors come directly to Pohang, where the earthquake occurred, stay there, and share the pain closely with local residents who have not yet fully recovered from the painful memories while investigating the damage."
He added, "Since the damage assessors' investigation results are very important in deciding the damage relief support funds, please conduct the investigation transparently and reasonably in close cooperation with Pohang City," and "Considering the unfortunate situation of the earthquake-affected residents, I hope efforts will be made to ensure practical damage relief."
