Seoul Jung-gu Provides Free Flu Vaccinations for COVID-19 Vulnerable Small Merchants
For Small Business Owners in Traditional Markets, Alleyway Commercial Districts, Printing and Sewing Industries, and Tourism Accommodation Establishments
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Jung-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Seo Yang-ho) is temporarily expanding the free influenza (flu) vaccination target to include COVID-19 vulnerable small business owners.
Jung-gu is a key transportation and commercial hub with a particularly high floating population in the urban area. With 39 traditional markets and about 130,000 businesses, it is a place where many people are active, aiming to prevent potential risks that may arise in the community during the simultaneous spread of COVID-19 and the flu.
The temporary free vaccination target group totals about 8,500 people.
Among them, about 6,300 are small business owners specializing in printing and garment industries concentrated in Jung-gu, as well as merchants in alley-type traditional markets and alley commercial districts. These are small business owners who work in confined narrow spaces or highly dense areas within the same space due to the nature of their work, making their working environment vulnerable to infectious diseases.
Operators of small general lodging businesses with fewer than 50 guests in tourist accommodations are also eligible for vaccination. Workers with particularly high frequency of contact with the public, such as social welfare facility employees, can also receive free vaccinations.
The district has registered the relevant list in the disease control system and is sending notification texts to the eligible individuals for this temporary free vaccination. Those who receive the text and wish to get the free vaccination can visit one of the 14 participating clinics to receive the vaccination.
Vaccinations start on the 11th and end on the 30th of this month. For any other inquiries, please contact the Jung-gu Public Health Center’s Health Management Division.
