According to the New York Times (NYT) on the 8th (local time), Michael LaRosa, spokesperson for Jill Biden, stated in a press release that Jill Biden will continue her teaching position even after her husband takes office at the White House. LaRosa said, "Dr. Biden will build a team and advance priorities focused on education, military families, veterans, and cancer issues."
Earlier, in his victory speech the day before, President-elect Biden said, "Today is a great day for educators in America," adding, "Someone like you will be entering the White House." Jill Biden also stated in an interview last August, when Biden was officially nominated as the Democratic presidential candidate, that she would continue her job even if she became First Lady.
Jill Biden, who has taught for over 30 years, is currently an English composition professor at Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) and took a leave of absence this year to support her husband's election campaign. She has consistently expressed her passion for teaching, calling it her calling.
Starting her teaching career in Wilmington, Delaware, Jill Biden worked as a high school teacher for over 20 years before serving as an English professor at Delaware Community College for 15 years. During her tenure, she earned master's degrees from West Chester University and Villanova University, and in 2007, in her mid-50s, she received a doctorate in education from the University of Delaware. People in the Biden camp reportedly refer to her as 'Dr. Biden.'

When her husband became Vice President in 2009, Jill Biden moved to her current college and continued her position. She is also the first Second Lady in history to hold a paid job. There is even an anecdote of her grading stacks of students' papers aboard the Vice President's plane, Air Force Two, while accompanying her husband on overseas trips.
