Naming 'Gachiga' and Slogan 'Beautiful Harmony, Rounding Up Happiness' Selected
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation (SH Corporation) announced on the 9th that the grand prize winners of the Seoul social housing brand contest were 'Gachiga' in the naming category and 'Beautiful Harmony, Adding Happiness' in the slogan category.
This contest was held to build consensus among Seoul citizens regarding Seoul's social housing. A total of 1,443 entries were submitted in the naming and slogan categories representing Seoul's social housing.
SH Corporation selected a total of nine works through two rounds of judging and consulting with trademark registration experts. The grand prize winner in the naming category will receive 2 million KRW, two runners-up will receive 100,000 KRW each, the grand prize winner in the slogan category will receive 1 million KRW, two excellence award winners will receive 300,000 KRW each, and three runners-up will receive 100,000 KRW each.
The naming grand prize winner, 'Gachiga,' is a compound word of 'Gachi (價値)' meaning 'value' and 'Ga (家)' meaning 'house,' signifying a 'useful house.' Additionally, 'Gachi' is pronounced the same as 'together' in Korean, implying a 'house shared and lived in together.' The slogan grand prize winner, 'Beautiful Harmony, Adding Happiness,' means to live together harmoniously in social housing and add happiness through a beautiful life.
Kim Seyong, President of SH Corporation, said, "We selected new naming and slogans through the enthusiastic support and ideas of citizens regarding Seoul's social housing," and added, "We hope that Seoul's social housing, under the new name 'Gachiga,' will receive great interest and love from many Seoul citizens."
