[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] ‘The King of Beer’ Budweiser announced on the 9th that it will release a limited edition bearing the name of ‘The King of Football’ Lionel Messi. This product was created to commemorate Messi’s appointment as a brand ambassador ahead of his historic record achievement.
Along with the news of the release of the ‘Messi Limited Edition’ product, Budweiser officially released a campaign video of Messi, who is on the verge of breaking the record for the most goals scored in a single league, through its official social media channels on the 9th. Through this video, they will also introduce a social event called the ‘Goal Count Down’ featuring a specially designed label for the Messi limited edition and Messi’s imminent record-breaking achievement of the most goals scored for a single club.
The Messi limited edition, sold as a 500ml bottled beer, features Messi’s back and name instead of the Budweiser logo. The product label includes the phrase ‘KING OF FOOTBALL,’ referring to Messi as the greatest football player, along with a message from Messi, who reached the top through endless effort, to football fans worldwide. The Budweiser Messi limited edition will be available from the 12th at major Lotte Mart stores nationwide in a six-pack package priced in the 10,000 KRW range.
Jo Hyo-rim, Budweiser brand manager, said, “This limited edition product commemorates the achievements of ‘The King of Football’ Lionel Messi, who is about to break unprecedented records,” adding, “Budweiser, symbolizing passion and challenge as ‘The King of Beer,’ will continue to support Messi’s journey to make new history together with football fans worldwide.”
Lionel Messi has played for FC Barcelona for about 20 years, holding the most titles of this generation, including six Ballon d’Or awards, 10 league championships, and being the highest scorer in La Liga history. As of the 9th, Messi has scored 640 goals for Barcelona, repeatedly scoring in the 20-21 La Liga and Champions League matches. This is expected to surpass the single-club scoring record of 643 goals held by Brazilian football legend Pel?, writing a new chapter in history.
