Opening of a Community Sports Facility in Anyang, Gyeonggi for Citizens and Military Personnel to Use Together
On the 9th, the 'Sudo Corps Sports Facilities' Make Their Debut
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] On the 9th, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced that it will hold an opening ceremony for the 'Sudo Corps Community Sports Facility,' a facility used jointly by citizens and military personnel, at the community sports facility stadium within the Sudo Corps in Anyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, with collaborative institutions including Anyang City, the Sudo Corps, and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety gathering in one place.
This project was promoted through the 'Integrated Space and Facility Sharing Collaboration Project Contest' conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety in March of last year. It is a project that supports the establishment and operation of service provision spaces and facilities jointly by two or more local governments or institutions. A total of 2 billion KRW in special grants was provided to seven selected collaborative projects through the contest held from March to April last year.
Among these, the 'Sudo Corps Community Sports Facility' project has attracted attention for overcoming the limitation of a shortage of available land due to the large area of development-restricted zones (about 51.5% of the area) within Anyang City and responding to the citizens' demand for community sports.
The newly established community sports facilities include one soccer field, two jokgu courts, and two futsal courts, and will begin full operation from December 1. Considering the characteristics of the Sudo Corps military unit and the conditions of the facilities, the facilities will be open to citizens during daytime hours. For convenient use by citizens, entry for group visits will be allowed with only one security pledge form from a representative.
Starting February next year, a service allowing easy reservations through the Anyang Urban Corporation website will also be provided.

Han Chang-seop, Director of Government Innovation Organization at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, said, "This project is an excellent example of responding to residents' service demands through inter-agency collaboration despite the shortage of available land. We will continue to strive to move away from the administrative agency-centered service provision method and actively provide services needed by the public through inter-agency collaboration."
