Namwon-si Expands Support for Installation of Residential Low-NOx Boilers
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Nosik] Namwon City in Jeonbuk announced on the 6th that it will expand support for the installation of residential low-NOx (eco-friendly) boilers.
Although Namwon City is not a mandatory compliance area under the Air Quality Management Zone Act, it plans to proactively reduce fine dust from households and create a healthy air environment by expanding support for residential low-NOx boilers from the initial 100 units to 500 units.
Low-NOx boilers are eco-friendly boilers certified with an environmental label, with an evaporation rate of less than 0.1 tons per hour.
When replacing a conventional boiler with a low-NOx boiler, nitrogen oxides are reduced by 79%, and energy efficiency is improved, resulting in an expected annual fuel cost savings of up to 130,000 KRW.
Earlier, since May, the city has accepted applications for residential low-NOx boiler installations and distributed a total of 132 boilers.
An additional 368 units will be distributed to actively support the spread of high-efficiency heating in preparation for the winter season.
The support target is Namwon citizens who install (replace) residential low-NOx boilers this year; general citizens will receive 200,000 KRW per unit, and low-income households will receive 500,000 KRW per unit as installation cost support.

Kim Sunja, head of the Environment Department, said, “Low-NOx (eco-friendly) boilers emit fewer pollutants that cause fine dust compared to conventional boilers and have high energy efficiency, which greatly reduces heating (fuel) costs. We hope many citizens will take interest and apply for this project that allows participation in improving air quality in daily life.”
