Jang Se-il, a member of the Agriculture, Fisheries and Marine Affairs Committee of the Jeonnam Provincial Council, announced on the 6th that he conducted in-depth inquiries regarding high value-added aquaculture projects such as yellow croaker during the administrative audit of the Marine Fisheries Science Institute on the 5th.
Assemblyman Jang said, “In 2015, sales of dried yellow croaker in Yeonggwang reached 350 billion won, making Yeonggwang the optimal place for yellow croaker aquaculture production,” and urged, “Please deliver advanced aquaculture technology for yellow croaker to Yeonggwang, the undisputed hometown of dried yellow croaker, and strive for successful research and development.”

He added, “To open the era of 4 trillion won in seafood production in Jeonnam, mass production of high value-added aquaculture seafood is essential,” and “I ask the Fisheries Science Institute to take the lead in industrializing Jeonnam’s top 10 core strategic species such as yellow croaker, cockles, and laver.”
