Nodong-Sahoe Development Foundation Gwangju Operates Emotional Support Program for Middle-Aged and Older Adults
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] The Gwangju Center for Middle-aged and Senior Job Hope under the Korea Labor Foundation (hereinafter referred to as the Gwangju Center) announced on the same day that it operated the ‘Emotional Support Program to Overcome COVID-19’ for middle-aged and senior people in the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions from the 5th to the 6th.
This emotional support program, held at the Gwangju Center lecture hall, is the third session this year and is conducted for middle-aged and senior people who are experiencing depression and difficulties in finding employment due to the COVID-19 situation.
The program runs for a total of 6 hours, with 3 hours of group psychological counseling over 2 days. On the first day, participants spent time getting to know themselves using various tools such as emotional Jenga.
On the second day, the program focused on resolving inner negative emotions and finding one’s own strengths and happiness.
Lee Myung-sook, director of the Gwangju Center, said, “As COVID-19 prolongs, the depression and anxiety among middle-aged and senior people are worsening. We will support them to overcome these challenges on their own through group psychological counseling and special lectures.”
Meanwhile, the Korea Labor Foundation’s Gwangju Center for Middle-aged and Senior Job Hope provides free customized services for life career design, retirement support programs for workers about to retire and job seekers, re-leap programs, and the New Middle-aged Life 3rd Act Package for those aged 40 and above.
