[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Yoon Poong-young, Chief Financial Officer of SK Telecom, stated during the Q3 2020 earnings conference call on the 5th, "We expect the net increase in subscribers to accelerate due to ecosystem improvements such as the expansion of 5G coverage and the launch of various price-range devices including the 5G iPhone." He added, "SKT's year-end 5G subscribers are projected to be between 5 million and 6 million, as initially expected."

CFO Yoon explained, "In 2021, we plan to enhance the completeness of services such as devices, networks, and services, and if a customer-friendly 5G rate plan is introduced by the end of this year or early next year, the speed of 5G subscriber growth will accelerate further." He continued, "The number of 5G subscribers is expected to reach 9 million by the end of 2021."
