"Let's Eat Together in the Neighborhood"… Mobile App 'Gatimeokja' Launches to Meet 'Meal Friends'
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] A mobile app that allows you to make meal friends in your neighborhood has emerged. In a situation where the range of activities has shrunk due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), this app enables users to make neighborhood friends by sharing a meal together.
Pyungjeong Communication announced on the 5th that it has launched the mobile app "GatiMeokja," which combines meal meetings and community functions. "GatiMeokja" uses mobile location information to allow people living in the same area to agree on food menus and meeting times, sharing the joy of dining together with multiple people. Additionally, based on its database, GatiMeokja recommends popular or frequently visited restaurant information to the trend-sensitive 2030 generation.
Kang Dongwon, PD at Pyungjeong Communication and the overall planner of the "GatiMeokja" app, said, "The advantage of GatiMeokja is its simple interface tailored to the tendencies of the MZ generation. When users select a restaurant, specify the date, time, and number of participants, a post is uploaded, and by selecting and accepting interested applicants, the 'meal friend reservation' is completed, enhancing user convenience so that anyone can easily use the app."
Users can also meet lunch or dinner mates near universities and workplaces. This app features the ability to evaluate and manage participants' reliability through no-show prevention and meal manners ratings. Currently, the Android version has been released and can be used immediately by downloading the app from the Google Play Store. The iOS-based app is scheduled to be released next month.
