Seoul City-Kolon Public-Private Partnership Opens 'Doseon Children's Park' Playground
Reflecting Children and Local Residents' Opinions and Ideas Throughout the Entire Playground Development Process
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] Seoul City announced on the 5th that it has newly renovated and opened the Doseon Children's Park playground in Seongdong-gu, promoted as part of the 'Public-Private Partnership Creative Children's Playground Project' in collaboration with Kolon Corporation, Save the Children, and Seongdong-gu.
The Public-Private Partnership Creative Children's Playground Project has been fully funded by Kolon Corporation for five years since 2016, and Save the Children has been contributing company-wide talent donations in design, planning, and construction through a partnership. So far, a total of five old playgrounds, including Daun Children's Park in Gangseo-gu and Madeul Sports Park in Nowon-gu, have been improved into creative children's playgrounds.
Save the Children also formed a resident council called 'NolSaver,' executing the entire project process together with residents and supporting awareness-raising activities on children's right to play.
Seoul City explained that the project site was selected through a public contest where citizens chose their preferred locations, and through NolSaver, design workshops were held so that the opinions of children and local residents were reflected throughout the entire playground creation process.
