Jangseong-gun Launches 'Purchase Promotion Campaign' for Eco-friendly Agricultural Materials Local Products
[Jangseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jo Hangyu] Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Yoo Doo-seok) announced on the 4th that it will carry out a campaign to promote the purchase of eco-friendly agricultural materials produced locally.
The county plans to encourage farms to prioritize purchasing locally produced organic fertilizers made primarily from livestock by-products.
This campaign, conducted in line with the application period for the 2021 organic fertilizer support project, involves 176 organizations and groups within the Jangseong area, including the village chiefs' association, farmers' association federation, and local agricultural cooperatives.
Currently, the area of eco-friendly certified farmland in Jangseong is 501 hectares (251 hectares organic farming, 250 hectares pesticide-free), accounting for 6% of the total cultivated land area.
Farms consume about 750,000 bags of organic fertilizer annually, and using local products can help improve the management difficulties of local businesses.
Additionally, by consuming livestock by-products, which are the main raw materials of organic fertilizers, it can help resolve the livestock manure disposal issues faced by livestock farmers and prepare for the mandatory compost maturity inspection to be implemented from next year.
