Opening of 'Haneul Supsok', the Village Vitality Center in Beon 2-dong, Gangbuk-gu
Construction of Ohhyeon-ro 25na-gil 16, Opening Ceremony on the 6th... A Space for Community Harmony and Communication... Cafe, Shared Kitchen, Learning Center, Fitness Room, Sky Garden
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Park Gyeom-su) will officially open the doors of ‘Haneul Supsok,’ the village vitality center in Beon 2-dong, starting with the opening ceremony on the 6th.
The village vitality center is a community facility created by utilizing idle spaces within the area, and this is the second opening following ‘Eoulhyanggi’ established last year in Beon 3-dong.
Located at 16, Ohyeon-ro 25na-gil, Gangbuk-gu, ‘Haneul Supsok’ was built with a total floor area of 448.28㎡ across one basement floor and three above-ground floors. It includes a forest caf? on the basement level, a shared kitchen on the first floor, a learning center on the second floor, a fitness room on the third floor, and a rooftop sky garden. The project cost approximately 2.62 billion KRW.
‘Haneul Supsok’ was initiated and operated under resident leadership from the start. The construction of the village vitality center began following a citizen suggestion when the Seoul mayor visited Ohpyeasan Forest Village in Beon 2-dong in 2018.
The district immediately formed a resident participation group in line with the project’s purpose of being led and autonomously operated by citizens. The group held several workshops and meetings to establish operational regulations for the village vitality center and made decisions on overall design aspects. Through passionate discussions, residents laid the foundation for the creation and operation system of the vitality center with their own hands.
The name was also created directly by the residents. ‘Haneul Supsok’ means ‘looking at the sky’ from Ohpyeasan, which is famous for its pine nut forest and Kkotsem-gil (Flower Cold Path). It is both the name of the village vitality center operating organization made up of Beon 2-dong residents and the building’s official name.
The opening ceremony on the 6th will proceed with Mayor Park Gyeom-su’s congratulatory speech, a video screening about the village vitality center’s development process, a tour of the facility, and a plaque unveiling ceremony.
‘Haneul Supsok’ will operate as a local communication space for various programs and community activities such as shared meals and village gardens. The district plans to take the lead in supporting and implementing projects to revitalize the village community.
