View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-ju] Lee Nak-yeon, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, mourned comedian Park Ji-sun, who suddenly passed away.
On the 3rd, Lee Nak-yeon posted a lengthy message on Facebook expressing his condolences over Park Ji-sun's death.
Lee said, "Many people are saddened by the sudden news of Park Ji-sun and her mother's passing. I pray for the deceased's happiness in the afterlife. I send my deepest condolences to the bereaved family," adding, "She was an outstanding comedian who showed that it is possible to laugh together without putting others down. She was a warm person who loved herself and worked hard to bring laughter to the public."
He continued, "I regret not knowing her better while she was alive, and it is heartbreaking that we cannot meet again," and said, "'The happiest time is when I can make people laugh,' said Park Ji-sun. Thanks to her, we were happy."
Earlier, Park Ji-sun was found dead along with her mother at her home in Mapo-gu, Seoul, at around 1:44 p.m. on the 2nd. Since the possibility of homicide is low and according to the family's wishes, an autopsy will not be conducted. The funeral will be held at the basement first floor of Ewha Mokdong Hospital funeral hall in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, with the funeral service scheduled for 7 a.m. on the 5th.
Park Ji-sun debuted as a KBS 22nd public recruitment comedian in 2007 and appeared on shows such as "Gag Concert," "Family's Dignity Full House," "Song Eun-i Kim Sook's Movie Guarantee," "Take Care of the Cat," and "Weekly Idol." She received the KBS Entertainment Awards Female Rookie Award in Comedy in 2007, the Female Excellence Award in Comedy in 2008, and the Female Top Excellence Award in Comedy in 2010. Recently, she also worked as an MC for various fields including singer showcases, movies, dramas, and entertainment press conferences.
