Watcha Launches Korea's First HDR10+ Content Service on OTT Platform
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] Online video service (OTT) Watcha announced on the 3rd that it will be the first domestic OTT company to start content service applying the next-generation video standard technology 'HDR10+'.
HDR10+ is a next-generation high-definition video standard technology led by Samsung Electronics, announced in 2018. It optimizes brightness and contrast ratio for each scene on display devices such as TVs and mobiles, enhancing the three-dimensional effect of the video and reproducing accurate colors.
Currently, eight titles including 'Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,' 'Spider-Man: Homecoming,' 'Baby Driver,' 'Blade Runner: 2049,' and 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' can be viewed in HDR10+. About seven more titles are planned to be added within this year.
