Seocho-gu Vulnerable Groups Housing Environment Improvement Project Receives Applause
Cleaning, organizing, sterilization, and disinfection services for residential environment improvement to home styling and space healing... Providing continuous solutions, not one-time support: Storage organization training courses, tidying tips, and more
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seocho-gu (Mayor Eunhee Jo) is promoting the ‘Seocho Clean Care Project’ to create a pleasant and clean living environment for vulnerable households who find it difficult to improve their environment due to mental or economic reasons.
The ‘Seocho Clean Care Project’ visits impoverished and crisis-stricken households with poor living conditions to provide cleaning, organizing, and sterilization and disinfection services to prevent COVID-19. The project is carried out in collaboration with Manpower Comprehensive Management, Dum-in, Korea Storage and Organization Development Institute, Korea Organizing Association, welfare centers, and volunteer groups.
In particular, the project not only improves the living environment through wallpaper and flooring replacement and disinfection support but also transforms narrow spaces into healing spaces that can soothe both life and mind.
Additionally, households that receive support can continue to take storage and organization courses at the Seocho Women’s Human Resources Development Center, receive organizing monitoring, or get tips, ensuring that support is not one-time but provides continuous solutions to address fundamental issues.
Mr. Kang, who received support last September, had a husband hospitalized in an alcohol treatment specialized hospital and a child with a disability. Due to depression, sleep disorders, and social phobia, the household cleanliness was neglected, and it was overwhelming to know where to start. After receiving support from the Clean Care Project, Mr. Kang said, “It was a page that will remain in the history of my life. It felt like a turning point in my life, and it was truly a joyful day,” expressing gratitude upon seeing the clean and spacious space.
Moreover, through a business agreement with KCC Corporation, customized housing repairs are provided for low-income disabled households. Over the past year, the district’s housing environment improvement projects have supported about 80 households, enabling those struggling with their living conditions to spend time in more pleasant and warm spaces.
