Suncheon-si Namjeong Hyundai Apartment Senior Center Newly Completed as a Comfortable Resting Space
Expecting a Meaningful Space as a Gift for Seniors Weary from COVID-19
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] The Namjeong Hyundai Apartment Senior Center in Suncheon City was newly opened as a comfortable and healthy leisure space for local seniors after its completion last month on the 30th.
Suncheon City held a completion ceremony attended by about 50 people, including Mayor Heo Seok of Suncheon, city council members, local figures, and apartment residents, to commemorate and celebrate the completion of the senior center with the elderly.
The Namjeong Hyundai Apartment Senior Center was constructed with a total project cost of 202 million KRW. It is a one-story building with a total floor area of 85㎡, designed so that both male and female seniors can use it comfortably. Construction began in May this year and was completed in September after a four-month construction period.
Park Eun-su, the president of the senior center, expressed gratitude in his commemorative speech, saying, “We thank the mayor and officials for providing a warm home for the seniors.” He added, “The seniors and residents will work together to create a healthy and happy senior center.”

Mayor Heo Seok of Suncheon said in his congratulatory speech, “October is Senior Citizens Month, and every year around this time, we enjoyed a filial piety festival, but it was regrettably canceled due to COVID-19.” He continued, “I hope the newly completed senior center will be a meaningful gift to the elderly.”
