"People Power Party Pressures President Moon to Directly Announce By-election Candidate Position"
[Asia Economy reporters Lee Ji-eun and Lim Chun-han] The People Power Party pressured President Moon to directly state his position on the Democratic Party's nomination of candidates for the by-elections.
Kim Jong-in, the emergency committee chairman of the People Power Party, criticized on the morning of the 2nd after the emergency committee meeting at the National Assembly, saying to reporters, "It is hard for everyone to accept that a promise made to the people can be overturned solely by a party member vote."
Seong Il-jong, a member of the People Power Party emergency committee, also criticized during the meeting, saying, "President Moon should clarify his position on next year's 'sexual crime by-election,'" and called the Democratic Party a "jobyeonseokgae (朝變夕改, changing from morning to evening) party."
At the People Power Party emergency committee meeting that day, a backdrop banner with the phrase '"Candidates should not run" - Moon Jae-in, former leader of the New Politics Alliance for Democracy -' was displayed. This pointed out that the Democratic Party overturned the party regulations, which stipulated that no candidates would be nominated if President Moon caused the by-election, through a vote of all party members.
Committee member Seong said, "How long has it been since they passed the Election Law and the Corruption Investigation Office Act through fast-track procedures, promising not to create proportional representation parties, only to overturn that promise through a party member vote using a trick and loophole? People are curious how a party that calls itself women-friendly and has a feminist president and educates on gender sensitivity became a jobyeonseokgae party."
Committee member Kim Mi-ae also pointed out, "President Moon should directly demand the Democratic Party stop their arrogant and irresponsible behavior of willingly running in next April's by-election labeled as a 'sexual harassment by-election,'" adding, "The Democratic Party, which inflicted secondary harm by using the unheard-of term 'victim claimant,' is now attempting to inflict tertiary harm."

Committee member Kim Hyun-a also criticized the Democratic Party's all-member vote result that day as a 'dapjeongneo (a formality with a predetermined answer),' saying, "The president promised this during his time as party leader, it is stipulated in the party regulations, and the reason for the by-election is a sexual harassment incident, but I did not know the gravity of the matter was considered so light. Calling the victim a claimant and turning the National Assembly audit, which is meant to hold responsibility, into an excuse and protection for the perpetrator is a bulletproof audit."
