Golf Sales Up 22% Despite Early Cold... Emart to Host Golf Expo
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] Despite the cold weather arriving earlier than usual, golf equipment is gaining great popularity.
On the 2nd, Emart analyzed golf equipment sales over two weeks from October 14 to October 27, when temperatures dropped significantly, and found that sales increased by about 22.4% compared to the same period last year. By item, driver sales rose 40.3%, woods 25.6%, and iron sets 11.8%, showing a significant increase in golf club sales. Sales of golf bags increased by 26.4%, and golf balls by 25.4%, also showing substantial growth compared to last year.
Considering the early cold snap, this is an unusual figure. According to data from the Korea Meteorological Administration, the average minimum temperature in Seoul from October 14 to 27 was 7.9°C. This is about 3 degrees lower than the average temperature of 10.9°C. The average maximum temperature in Seoul was also 18.1°C, which is 3.3 degrees lower than last year's 21.4°C during the same period.
Due to the increased popularity of golf, Emart is holding an autumn golf promotion for two weeks until the 11th of this month. The XXIO Prime Royal Edition 3 iron set is offered at Emart’s lowest price ever of 1,980,000 KRW. In particular, the iron set is sold online at a lowest price of 2,090,000 KRW, making it more than 110,000 KRW cheaper than online prices.
During this event, customers who purchase an iron set will also receive a set of XXIO 11 golf balls worth 50,000 KRW. The XXIO Prime Royal Edition 3 driver is also sold at the lowest price both online and offline at 990,000 KRW. The XXIO Prime Royal Edition wood is priced at 610,000 KRW, and the utility club at 360,000 KRW. Additionally, a limited quantity of 500 units of the Yamaha Remix 220 driver AAA-grade demo club is available for 390,000 KRW, and Volvik Eyes On matte golf balls (15 balls) are sold for 18,900 KRW.
Since golf equipment is expensive, various promotions are prepared according to price ranges. Customers purchasing items worth 500,000 KRW, 1,000,000 KRW, 1,500,000 KRW, or 2,000,000 KRW can receive discounts of 20,000 KRW, 50,000 KRW, 70,000 KRW, and 100,000 KRW respectively. When using the event card, customers purchasing at these price points will also receive Shinsegae gift certificates worth 30,000 KRW, 60,000 KRW, 90,000 KRW, and 120,000 KRW respectively. These discounts can be combined, so customers purchasing over 2,000,000 KRW can receive up to an additional 220,000 KRW discount.
