KT Takes Initiative in Ukraine's Energy Efficiency Efforts
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] KT announced on the 1st that it has signed a "New Business Development Agreement for Power Smart Metering to Improve Energy Efficiency in Ukraine" with the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy.
Smart metering is an energy measurement method that combines meters and Internet of Things (IoT) technology to allow suppliers and consumers to remotely check real-time electricity usage. Through this agreement, both organizations will establish a power smart metering system in Ukraine and promote energy efficiency by monitoring and analyzing nationwide electricity usage in real time. KT plans to discover new business models by transferring smart metering-related technology and know-how, conducting expert visits and training in the power sector, and carrying out feasibility studies.
KT intends to develop an energy monitoring solution for Ukraine by applying energy control technology utilizing AI and big data. KT currently provides a solution in Korea that integrates comprehensive management of energy monitoring, power generation diagnosis and prediction, optimal control, production, consumption, and trading through KT-MEG equipped with an AI engine.
