What Does the "Maximized Dynamism" Genesis GV70 Look Like?
Following last month's G70, GV70 to launch within the year... 'Dynamism' 70 Lineup
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] Genesis is rapidly expanding its lineup in its fifth year since the brand's launch, increasing its presence. Having already successfully introduced its first sport utility vehicle (SUV), the ‘GV80,’ and the new G80 earlier this year, it is now filling out its youngest lineup ahead of the year-end.
According to industry sources on the 1st, Genesis released the first facelift of its youngest sedan, the G70, on the 20th of last month and plans to launch the youngest SUV, the ‘GV70,’ domestically by the end of the year. These 70 lineups are characterized by inheriting Genesis’s unique design identity while maximizing dynamism.
The recently unveiled exterior of the GV70 harmonizes luxury and dynamism. The front features a crest grille inspired by the shield of the Genesis logo, positioned lower than the headlamps to emphasize an aggressive image. Adding to the brand’s signature dual-line quad lamps, a skid plate for engine underbody protection is applied to the lower bumper, enhancing robustness. On the side, an arch-shaped line starting from above the quad lamps stretches across the body, creating elegance.
The interior emphasizes the Korean concept of ‘beauty of empty space.’ The sporty interior design, inspired by the streamlined shape of an airplane wing, uses oval elements to enhance volume. Slim air vents and thin chrome lines crossing them extend long to both doors, creating an image that seems to envelop the passengers.
Since the brand’s launch in 2015, Genesis is aiming for its best-ever performance in its fifth year. Starting with the brand’s first SUV, the GV80, in January this year, the completely redesigned new G80 was introduced in March, followed by the facelifted G70 last month. With the addition of the GV70 by year-end, four out of the five total lineups?three sedans (G70, G80, G90) and two SUVs (GV70, GV80)?will have either new models released within a year or completely new vehicles.
Genesis’s domestic sales from January to September this year reached 77,358 units, a 73.6% increase compared to last year. With the G80 and GV80, which lead sales performance, still highly popular and the youngest lineup joining in, Genesis’s growth trend is expected to continue for the time being.
