Gyeongnam Province, '2020 Korea Sale Festa' ... Stimulating Sluggish Consumption
Promotion Event for Local Gift Certificates, Outdoor Sales of Regional Specialty Products, and Real-Time Online Broadcasts
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] Gyeongsangnam-do announced on the 31st that it will hold a large-scale consumption promotion event for one month starting November 1 in connection with Gimhae City during the privately-led ‘2020 Korea Sale Festa’ period.
The province participated together with Gimhae City in the ‘Local Government Consumption Promotion Event Linked to Korea Sale Festa’ announced by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, securing 150 million KRW in national funds, and will proceed with a total budget of 500 million KRW including 100 million KRW from the provincial government and 250 million KRW from Gimhae City.
The ‘Korea Sale Festa’ is a large-scale shopping discount event held for 15 days from November 1, with participation from the government and industry. This year, it is conducted with hopeful local governments participating to recover consumption demand shrunk by the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and to revitalize the domestic economy.
Considering the COVID-19 situation, the province and city will refrain from stage events and performances, utilize non-face-to-face online shopping ‘live commerce channels,’ the provincial online shopping mall ‘eGyeongnam Mall,’ and post office shopping malls, and focus on local specialty product giveaways, discount events, and compensation refunds for on-site events.
