Gwangju City Council Holds Policy Meeting with Autonomous District Chairpersons

At the ‘Gwangju Metropolitan Council - Five Autonomous District Chairpersons Policy Meeting’ held at the Gwangju Metropolitan Council building, attendees included Kim Yong-jip, Chairman of the Gwangju Metropolitan Council; Jo Seok-ho and Jeong Sun-ae, 1st and 2nd Vice Chairpersons; Jeong Mu-chang, Chairman of the Council Operations Committee; Lee Hong-il, Chairman of the Administration and Autonomy Committee; as well as Jeong Mi-yong, Chairperson of Dong-gu Council; Kim Tae-young, Chairperson of Seo-gu Council; Park Hee-yul, Chairperson of Nam-gu Council; Pyo Beom-sik, Chairperson of Buk-gu Council; and Lee Young-hoon, Chairperson of Gwangsan-gu Council.
During the meeting, discussions were held on issues such as the recent resumption of negotiations regarding boundary adjustments between autonomous districts and sharing plans for forming an Ethics Review Advisory Committee to enhance the ethics and accountability of local council members.

Chairman Kim Yong-jip stated, “I consider it very meaningful that a communication opportunity was created between the Gwangju Metropolitan Council, the representative body of 1.5 million Gwangju citizens, and the five autonomous district councils to seek cooperation on regional issues and to advance the legislative activities of council members.” He added, “To promote the joint development of the five autonomous districts and increase the happiness of 1.5 million citizens, let us continue to meet frequently, share wisdom, and cooperate closely.”
