Jeju Flatfish Export Forward Base 'Incheon Seafood Export Logistics Center' Fully Operational
[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Chang-won] Jeju Special Self-Governing Province announced on the 29th that the Incheon Seafood Export Logistics Center, the air export base for Jeju flatfish, will be fully operational in November.
The Incheon Seafood Export Logistics Center has a building area of 2,930㎡ and consists of three above-ground floors, including a management building, tank building, warehouse building, electrical machinery room, and refrigerated and frozen storage facilities, located on the rear site of Incheon Port Authority. The total project cost was 6 billion KRW (2.5 billion KRW from the national government, 1.5 billion KRW from the provincial government, and 2 billion KRW borne by the Fisheries Cooperative).
Construction began in May last year, and on August 21 of this year, building use approval was obtained from Jung-gu Office of Incheon. The operation will be managed by Jeju Fishery Cooperative.
With the new construction, the facility has been enlarged and modernized, passing the hygiene standards of the U.S. FDA.
Jeju Province expects that with the operation of the export logistics center, the export position of Jeju farmed flatfish as safe and healthy food will be strengthened, and the expansion of export regions will also be possible.

Cho Dong-geun, Director of the Marine and Fisheries Bureau of Jeju Province, said, “Once the Incheon Seafood Export Logistics Center is fully operational, it is expected to contribute to increasing the income of farmed fish households by expanding trade with emerging economies such as the Americas, Vietnam, and Indonesia.”
