Will Paid Games Work? Kakao Games' 'Elion' Launches on December 10
[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] The PC massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) 'Elyon,' serviced by Kakao Games, will be released on December 10.
'Elyon' was developed by Krafton, which is preparing for its initial public offering (IPO). Krafton has not produced a hit game since 'Battlegrounds.' Originally planned to be released as 'AIR,' the game was renamed to 'Elyon.'
The company explained that the game’s strengths include large-scale battles between users, stunning graphics, and diverse content.
'Elyon' has attracted attention for adopting a paid model, which is rare in recent games. Players must purchase a 9,900 KRW access pass to play.
In addition to the access pass purchase, a partial pay-to-play system allowing in-game item trading has been implemented. Users are refunded in-game currency equivalent to the price of the access pass.
