Six Provinces Including Gyeonggi, Gangwon, and Sejong Show Net Inflow
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Joo Sang-don] Last month, 11 provinces including Seoul, Incheon, and Daegu experienced a net population outflow (inflow - outflow). More than 10,000 people left Seoul.
On the 28th, Statistics Korea released the "September Domestic Population Movement Statistics" containing this information.
According to the report, the number of movers in September was 621,000, an increase of 20.0% (104,000 people) compared to the same month last year. Among the total movers, 69.4% moved within provinces, and 30.6% moved between provinces. Compared to the same month last year, intra-provincial moves increased by 24.4%, and inter-provincial moves increased by 11.2%.
The population movement rate, which is the number of movers per 100 people, was 14.8%, up 2.5 percentage points compared to the same month last year.

By province, Gyeonggi Province saw a net inflow of 15,208 people. Including this, six provinces such as Gangwon (640 people) and Sejong (623 people) experienced net inflows. On the other hand, Seoul (-10,044 people), Incheon (-1,336 people), and Daegu (-1,192 people) experienced net outflows.
