WEMAKEPRICE Supports 5,900 Small Businesses' Online Expansion through 'Win-Win Cooperation Program'
Operation of Online Sales Channel Support Program for Small Business Owners and SMEs for 3 Years Since 2017
Over 3,500 Companies Benefited This Year Alone... Support for Small Business Owners Blocked by COVID-19 Sales Channels
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Wemakeprice announced on the 28th that it has supported the digitalization of over 5,900 small business owners through its win-win cooperation program since 2017. Especially this year, to help small business owners whose sales channels were blocked due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the support scale has been expanded, and it is expected that about 3,500 of them will benefit.
Before the digital transformation of small business owners became prominent, Wemakeprice established a dedicated 'Win-Win Cooperation Team' in 2017. The Win-Win Cooperation Team travels nationwide to discover excellent products from small business owners in each region who need digitalization and provides customized solutions. They support everything from introductory education to build basic capabilities to overall assistance for entering online platforms.
The sales of those who received support from the win-win cooperation program increased by 62% in the recent three months compared to the three months immediately after the program's introduction. During the same period, 87 small business owners achieved monthly sales of 100 million KRW. Additionally, 702 companies recorded monthly sales exceeding 10 million KRW. For example, Somssi Cooperative, which sells meal kits, saw its sales grow by 308% within two years after joining in 2018.
Recently, in line with the non-face-to-face (untact) consumption trend, live commerce is also being conducted. Through the Wemakeprice platform and YouTube, the number of simultaneous viewers per broadcast ranges from an average of 1,000 to 20,000, playing a role in increasing contact points between customers and small business owners. Namwon Kimbugak Cooperative's 'Kimbugak' achieved significant results in a short period through live commerce, recording sales exceeding 400 million KRW on Wemakeprice in the past six months with just Kimbugak.
Wemakeprice plans to regularly operate offline programs for small business owners in the future. The goal is to regularize programs where small business owners can visit anytime to obtain knowledge and information for entering the online market. Through this program, they plan to actively support everything from basic online education to content creation and product promotional video shooting. They will also develop specialized products for the digital transformation of local commercial districts. This project involves transferring local specialties, which are mainly sold offline, to online channels.
