Dobong-gu and Seoul City to Host Online Creative Audition 'WeMakeMusic 2020'
From November 2 to December 4, the online creative support audition 'WeMakeMusic 2020' will be held... All participants receive free music sources (sample packs) from top domestic musicians... Selected works will be promoted through Asia's largest music webzine HipHopLE
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dobong-gu (Mayor Dongjin Lee) and Seoul City, together with HipHopLE, will hold an online creative support audition called ‘WeMakeMusic 2020’ for independent music creators starting from November 2.
This audition, prepared to support indie artists exhausted by the COVID-19 situation, is the largest online creative audition in Korea and will be held from November 2 to December 4.
Unlike existing famous audition programs that only benefit a small number of participants (rappers and singers), this audition supports young creators in various fields such as beatmakers and instrumentalists.
In particular, all participants will be provided with music sources (sample packs) from top-tier domestic musicians free of charge.
Participants will use the provided musicians’ music sources (a collection of detailed music files of the created songs) to create their own works, and the selected results will be promoted through Asia’s largest music webzine HipHopLE.
Famous domestic musicians The Quiett, Sunwoo Jung-a, Changmo, Jinbo, Girin, and Yunu will participate as hosts in this audition, and they will publicly share their sample packs, which can be considered their creative know-how, free of charge.
While the release of sample packs by famous musicians has been done overseas, this is the first time in Korea, and it is expected to provide great inspiration and experience to many young music creators.
The main contents of the audition are ▲ support for collaborative creation between indie musicians through sample packs provided by famous musicians ▲ production of promotional videos for the music works of independent creators participating in the creative audition ▲ online promotional marketing support for selected creators (using HipHopLE channels).
Applications for the audition can be made through the Open Changdong website (opcd.kr) from November 2 to 4.
The final selection will be announced on December 14, selecting 2 teams per host musician, with a total of 10 final selected teams.
The selected emerging creators (teams) will receive producing support from host musicians The Quiett, Sunwoo Jung-a, Changmo, Jinbo, Girin, and Yunu, and will produce music tracks and music videos at the Changdong Creative Studio (Gong-eum·Eum), which will be released through HipHopLE by the end of January next year.
Mayor Dongjin Lee of Dobong-gu stated, “Through this event, we expect to expand the creative activities of young creators, who have been restrained due to COVID-19, online and to establish a music scene centered around Changdong. Furthermore, based on these activities, we will continuously strive to lay the foundation for Dobong-gu to become a world-class music city after the completion of Seoul Arena.”
