Jeonnam Fire Department Strengthens Customized Fire Prevention Activities for Residents
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Fire Department is making every effort to prevent fires ahead of the winter season, when the risk of fire increases due to dry weather and increased use of heating devices.
Jeonnam Fire Headquarters (Chief Ma Jaeyoon) announced on the 27th that it will strengthen customized fire prevention activities for residents throughout next month in celebration of the 73rd "Fire Prevention Emphasis Month."
In the past three years (2017?2019), 2,946 winter fires (November to February) occurred, resulting in 125 casualties (17 deaths and 108 injuries), with damages amounting to approximately 30.74 billion KRW.
Accordingly, under the slogan "Prepare for small fires, evacuate first for big fires!", the "Fire Prevention Emphasis Month" will be held until the 30th of this month.
Along with this, they plan to focus on spreading a fire safety culture in daily life for winter preparedness, including initial response training for disaster situations such as "Evacuate First When Fire Breaks Out" and online participatory 119 safety events.
Especially this year, they decided to carry out non-face-to-face focused promotional activities for social distancing in daily life due to COVID-19.
They intend to create a fire prevention atmosphere among residents through various methods such as promotion using diverse content including banners, poster exhibitions, promotional videos, SNS card news, as well as operating fire safety experience education and promotional events online.
