Seoul Reports 24 New COVID-19 Cases Yesterday ... 2 Additional Deaths

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] Due to the aftermath of small-scale cluster infections, the daily number of new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Seoul has risen again to over 20. Two elderly patients in their 70s have also died.
Seoul City announced on the 27th, as of midnight, that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Seoul increased by 24 from the previous day, bringing the total cumulative confirmed cases to 5,851.
The daily new confirmed cases in Seoul had remained below 20 from the 18th to the 21st, then rose to 20 on the 22nd, 22 on the 23rd, dropped again to 17 on the 24th, and recorded 20 and 24 cases on the 25th and 26th, respectively.
Among the new confirmed cases, 12 were classified as small-scale cluster infections, 4 were cases of contact with confirmed patients, and 8 cases are still under investigation for infection routes.
Among these, the number of new confirmed cases related to a restaurant gathering in Yongin City increased by 5. After one resident from another city who attended the gathering on the 23rd was initially confirmed positive, 18 more cases were confirmed by the 25th, and 7 additional cases on the 26th, bringing the total related confirmed cases to 26. Of these, 14 reside in Seoul.
Regarding the family cluster infection in Yeongdeungpo-gu confirmed on the 22nd, the total number of related confirmed cases increased to 4. One member of this family works at a construction site in Songpa-gu, where additional transmission occurred, classifying it as a new cluster infection. So far, the total confirmed cases related to the Songpa-gu construction site are 9, with 4 new cases added on the 26th, including 2 coworkers at the construction site and 2 family members of the worker. Seoul City and Songpa-gu conducted emergency disinfection at the site and are carrying out epidemiological investigations and contact tracing together with the health center.
Additionally, one new confirmed case each was added related to a family in Guro-gu, a dance academy in Bucheon where that family worked, and the Sammo Sporex accommodation facility in Gwanak-gu.
In Seoul, two patients in their 70s who had been diagnosed with COVID-19 and were undergoing isolation treatment died on the 24th and 26th, respectively, raising the total death toll to 76. Both deceased patients were confirmed to have underlying health conditions.
So far, 5,394 people in Seoul have been declared fully recovered and discharged, while 381 are currently undergoing isolation treatment.
