Three More Confirmed Cases... Secondary Infection Spread from 'Changwon Jesa Gathering' (Update)
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Seul-gi] Three more patients infected with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed in relation to the ancestral rites gathering in Changwon, Gyeongnam, where a cluster infection occurred.
On the 27th, Gyeongnam Province announced in a COVID-19 response briefing that a woman in her 20s residing in Changwon (Gyeongnam case 311), another woman in her 20s (case 313), and a woman in her 50s (case 314) tested positive in connection with the Changwon ancestral rites gathering. They had contact with previously confirmed patients 304 and 309.
As a result, the number of confirmed cases related to the Changwon ancestral rites gathering in the province has increased to 10.
They are family members or relatives who tested positive between the evening of the 25th and the morning of the 26th. All confirmed relatives from Changwon were admitted to Masan Medical Center.
There are 15 contacts from case 304 and 9 contacts from case 305, all of whom are currently being tested.
The province dispatched an immediate response team to the site to identify the movements and contacts of each confirmed patient in order to determine the exact infection route. Considering that multiple cases occurred simultaneously and there was a time gap from the initial symptoms to confirmation, the province plans to focus on identifying contacts as broadly as possible.
The cumulative number of confirmed cases in the province has risen to 306. Among them, 292 have fully recovered and been discharged, and 14 are currently hospitalized.
