'Dambo' Enters Top 10 at the Box Office This Year
'Sorido Eopsi' Drops to 4th Place After Losing Many Seats
The number of movie theater visitors showed an upward trend last weekend. According to the Korea Film Council's integrated ticketing system on the 26th, the number of visitors to movie theaters last weekend (23rd-25th) was 564,963. This is 159,653 more than the third weekend of this month (16th-18th), which had 405,310 visitors.
This success is thanks to the new release "Samjin Group English TOEIC Class." It attracted 270,837 viewers across 1,603 screens (19,153 showings). It secured 49.8% of all seats, recording an 8.5% sales rate. Its box office revenue share was 48.7%, with a cumulative audience of 358,618. "Dambo" maintained its second place at the box office. It drew 72,819 viewers on 645 screens (4,333 showings). Among films with over 10,000 seats, it showed the second-highest sales rate (13.4%) and recorded a cumulative audience of 1,579,194. It surpassed "Honest Candidate (1,536,732 viewers)" to rank 10th in this year's box office.
The new release "Mr. Trot: The Movie" attracted 57,600 viewers on 448 screens (4,561 showings). It occupied the second-largest number of seats (13.3%, 844,871 seats) but had a sales rate of only 6.8%. Its box office revenue share was 10.9%, with a cumulative audience of 86,915. "Voice of Silence," which had topped the box office, slipped three places to 4th. It recorded 54,847 viewers on 682 screens (5,115 showings). This is 70.2% (129,379 viewers) less than the third weekend of this month’s 184,226 viewers. The seat occupancy rate dropped sharply from 35.8% to 10.3%, making it difficult to gain momentum in the box office. Its cumulative audience is 344,919.
