LG Electronics Signs Patent Licensing Agreement for Refrigerator Ice-Making with Electrolux
[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] LG Electronics announced on the 26th that it has recently signed a usage agreement with global home appliance company Electrolux regarding LG Electronics' patent on ice-making technology in French door refrigerators.
Electrolux, headquartered in Sweden, is a European home appliance company established in 1919.
The premium French door refrigerator has the refrigerator compartment on top and the freezer compartment at the bottom, which causes inconvenience as users have to bend down to take out ice from the freezer.
LG Electronics explained that through research and development, it developed the 'main body ice-making' technology that installs an ice-making device inside the upper refrigerator compartment to make ice conveniently, and registered related patents.
LG Electronics holds more than 700 global registered patents related to ice-making technology in refrigerators. LG Electronics also applies ice-making technology to French door refrigerators sold domestically and internationally.
