Jeonnam Fishermen Hold Online Lecture on 'Strengthening Aquaculture Technology'
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Jeonnam Marine Fisheries Science Institute held a non-face-to-face online lecture to strengthen aquaculture technology education for local fishery workers in line with the post-COVID-19 era.
According to Jeonnam Province on the 25th, the Marine Fisheries Science Institute recently operated a non-face-to-face interactive online education program on abalone and scallop aquaculture specialized technology for 54 local fishery workers.
This education was promoted to explain sustainable shellfish production measures to fishery workers facing difficulties due to climate change and domestic economic recession, induce diversification of distribution structures, and promote income stability for fishery workers.
The abalone aquaculture technology education covered measures to reduce mortality, methods to obtain ASC (Aquaculture Stewardship Council) international certification, and distribution strategies responding to the untact era. The scallop aquaculture technology education dealt with scallop aquaculture theory, nurturing and management guidelines, mortality reduction measures, and procedures for entering the Namdo Market.
Park Juntak, director of the Marine Fisheries Science Institute, said, “We will continue to invite experts in each field to provide high-quality education so that the aquaculture industry can leap forward as a sustainable industry,” and added, “We will do our best to help fishery workers achieve stable income through new distribution strategies in the untact era.”
