The Citizen Participation Group selected a total of 78 members who can engage in both online and offline activities across various regions. Considering the COVID-19 quarantine situation, the inauguration ceremony was held as a 'video inauguration' instead of an on-site event.
As a bridge connecting the NTS and the public, the Citizen Participation Group participates directly in redesigning tax payment services by presenting inconveniences, difficulties, and improvement suggestions experienced during the tax payment process through a dedicated online channel. They will also be involved in activities such as reviewing exemplary cases of proactive administration, promoting new systems and outstanding policy achievements, and proposing ideas for the advancement of national tax administration.
Before the inauguration ceremony, the NTS held online video conferences by region to explain the roles and methods of activities of the Citizen Participation Group and to select discussion topics.
Moon Hee-cheol, Deputy Commissioner of the NTS, said, "Although we have continuously strived to enable citizens to pay taxes sincerely and comfortably, there are still areas that need improvement. We expect your valuable suggestions and participation to be a great force in creating a more comfortable and better national tax administration for the public."
