Son of North Korean Military-Killed Official Responds to President Moon: "I Believe in Your Promise to Personally Take Care"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] A, the son of Mr. Lee (47), a Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries official who was shot dead by North Korean soldiers in the northern waters of Soyeonpyeongdo in the West Sea, replied to a letter sent by President Moon Jae-in.
In a handwritten letter disclosed on the 23rd by Mr. Lee Rae-jin (55), Mr. Lee's older brother, A wrote, "I read it several times and felt heartbroken about the current situation, but I decided to regain strength from the sincere words of comfort from the President. I believe in the President's words that responsibility must be held and that if there is any injustice, honor must be restored, as well as his promise to personally take care of it. It gave me great strength."
A wrote, "Although I lost my father, I know very well what kind of person he was, so I cannot lose his honor." He added, "I am grateful for the President's heart that always stays with me and my younger sibling so that we can live without suffering," and said, "I believe in the President's words and will continue to prepare diligently for the civil service exam to achieve my dreams as I have done so far."
Finally, A said, "I hope this pain our family is going through ends as soon as possible, and I will engrave the President's words in my heart and trust and wait for that promise," adding, "Thank you once again for the letter."
This letter, about one page of A4 size, was sent by registered mail on the 19th.
