[Asia Economy Reporter Park Soyeon] POSCO announced on the 22nd that it was selected as an outstanding company in the safety culture leadership category at the 13th Safety & Health Excellence Recognition organized by the World Steel Association.
The Safety & Health Excellence Recognition evaluates member companies of the World Steel Association based on the maturity of their safety culture and changes in safety indicators, and certifies companies that have promoted excellent safety activities in four categories: ▲ Safety Culture Leadership ▲ Work Safety ▲ Process Safety ▲ Health.
This year, a total of 30 companies competed in the Safety Culture Leadership category, and three companies including POSCO, Emirates Steel (United Arab Emirates), and Tenaris (Luxembourg) were selected.
POSCO was highly evaluated for the positive effects of its 'Challenge! Safety Golden Bell' program, which increased employees' interest in safety knowledge and activities, increased the number of safety activity participations and identification of high-risk and potential hazards at work sites, and reduced unsafe behaviors.
In February, POSCO held an internal contest for 'Safety Cheer Videos' and produced the selected excellent works as the internal phone ringback tone 'Safety Coloring' for the Pohang and Gwangyang steelworks.
