4 Port Authorities Successfully Conclude Startup Idea Discovery Hackathon SPLASH
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (President Cha Min-sik, hereinafter referred to as the Authority) and the port authorities of Incheon, Busan, and Ulsan announced on the 21st that the ‘2nd 4 Port Authorities (PA) Startup Idea Discovery Hackathon SPLASH’ was successfully concluded.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, this hackathon was held online in a non-face-to-face format, with a total of 42 teams submitting startup ideas. Through online evaluation, 10 teams advanced to the final round.
The competition, themed around the marine industry (marine digital new deal, marine green new deal, shipping, ports, logistics, marine leisure, marine tourism, marine education, etc.), gathered various related industry startup ideas. The RPM Corporation team, which presented a ‘Concrete Repair Product with Acid Resistance,’ won the grand prize and a cash award of 5 million KRW.
Following that, the gold prize went to the Neptune Cloud team with the startup idea ‘Cloud Platform for Improving Bunker Fuel Shipping Logistics Productivity,’ winning 3 million KRW; the silver prize was awarded to the Maepsi team for ‘Abnormal Movement Detection System in Ports Using AI,’ winning 2 million KRW; and the bronze prize went to the TOMS team for the ‘Preliminary Dispatch Management System,’ winning 1 million KRW.
All four winning teams will receive follow-up support including startup funds, office space, and mentoring through one-on-one matching with the four PAs.
