Dong-Eui University Fencing Wins Gold and Silver Medals at National Championships
National Men’s and Women’s Fencing Championships: Do Kyung-dong Wins Men’s Individual, Both Men’s and Women’s Team Events Take Silver Medals
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Dong-Eui University has won a flood of medals at a domestic fencing competition.
The Dong-Eui University Fencing Team (Coach Han Woori) won first place in the men's sabre individual event and second place in both men's and women's team events at the 49th President's Cup National Men's and Women's Age-Group Fencing Championships held from October 16 to 23 at the Useul Gymnasium in Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do.
Do Kyung-dong (Physical Education, Year 3), who won two titles at last year's U-23 Asian Championships, claimed first place in the men's college sabre individual event.
In the semifinals, Do Kyung-dong defeated Park Sang-won of Korea National Sport University 15 to 13, and in the finals, he beat Jeong Han-gil of Howon University 15 to 14 to win the gold medal.
Do Kyung-dong is active as a national representative under 25 years old and is recognized as a promising talent leading South Korean fencing.
Do Kyung-dong said, "I will work hard as a player who upholds the honor of Dong-Eui University and leads South Korean fencing to maintain its position at the top of the world."

Dong-Eui University took second place in the men's college sabre team event, narrowly losing to Korea National Sport University 39 to 45, and also finished as runner-up in the women's college team final, narrowly losing to Honam University 42 to 45.
