Kim Ye-ryeong, spokesperson for the People Power Party, stated in a commentary on the 21st, "Starting with the death of a teenager in Incheon who received a flu vaccine on the 14th, a total of five deaths have occurred nationwide, including in Jeonbuk, Daejeon, Jeju, and Daegu," demanding clarification.
He emphasized, "Citizens who had planned to get vaccinated due to concerns about the simultaneous spread of COVID-19 and the flu during winter cannot help but hesitate, and parents who hurried to vaccinate their children are anxious about whether previous vaccinations were safe. Except for the first case, most of the deceased were elderly vulnerable to the flu or had underlying health conditions, making it a situation where they could neither safely receive nor avoid the flu shot."

Spokesperson Kim added, "The health authorities maintain that there is no clear causal relationship between flu vaccination and death, and medical experts also recommend getting the flu vaccine as deaths are extremely rare exceptions. However, this is insufficient to alleviate safety concerns about the vaccine," and stated, "The government and quarantine authorities must promptly investigate the connection between the vaccine and deaths and inform the public of the causes of death."
