Gwangju Seo-gu Conducts Psychological Counseling for Essential Medical Workers to Alleviate 'Corona Blue'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Seo Daeseok) announced on the 21st that psychological counseling will be provided to essential medical workers until the 22nd to alleviate coronablue.
Coronablue is a newly coined term combining COVID-19 and the feeling of blue (depression). This visiting counseling session was conducted for medical workers at Seonhan Hospital located in Gwangcheon-dong.
Medical workers are at high risk of stress exposure due to the nature of their jobs and the large number of patients since COVID-19, and often find it difficult to visit counseling sessions separately due to time constraints.
Accordingly, the district conducted one-on-one personal counseling by having professional counselors visit the institutions directly, using HRV (Heart Rate Variability) diagnostic equipment to measure heart rate variability and assess the autonomic nervous system's coping ability, as well as identifying psychological stress causes and management methods.
For high-risk individuals identified through psychological counseling, healing services will be provided in connection with the Seo-gu Mental Health Support Center's Mind Health Doctor.
A Seo-gu official said, "We hope this psychological counseling will be an opportunity for essential workers, who silently do their jobs despite the risk of COVID-19 infection, to heal their exhausted minds."
